[Weekend Movie Marathon]
Had a movie marathon this weekend. My bro's bought a dozen of pirated DVDs at Monumento Friday night. He and his wife went out and i watched all of them,... well, almost. i didn't get to watch
love actually and
House of Sand and Fog, but i guess it's ok,. feels like they're the normal romantic and drama genres we get to watch all the time... Saturday night i watched
Brother Bear, Helen of Troy and
Big Fish. LOVED all of em, except probably for Helen of Troy, not that it wasn't a good movie, but it was a little too long for me, some parts were boring, but i think it's more of a classic really compared to Troy [not that i've really watched it]... Brother Bear i've watched only now and i love it... the moment was short-lived, it being a legend, and told by way of a story legend, like once upon a time's, although it added to the aura of full-impact, a great sorta sad sorta feel-good emotions that was rich in the movie, 'twas great great great. And it was comical really!, had some great laughs watching that disney animation, esp with the two mooses., Who'd ever thought a moose performs yoga? that was a real joker!.,
And the Big Fish was truly spectacular! Definitely a true art film for me! Just by way of memories, great feats, storytelling and flashbacks, it achieved great plot and storyline with booming sequences, Kinda a kid's movie, but even more because what was behind those tales were a factor in the film's catching chapters, It's a real heartwarmer and an eye opener, my heart just beat for this movie, esp the ending when the father died and what the son thought was just fabrications of his father's mind he found out were true because the supposed characters in his tales actually went and were revealed, at the funeral! it was a real ohmygod-i-can't-believe-that-was-real kind of thing for me,... great movie, wonderful performance by ewan mcgregor as usual, great casting, great cinematography, great everything... just loved it!
And for closing we had on Sunday afternoon, just earlier this day,
Lord of the Rings Return of the King,... (I, who had had not the time in the past to watch movies because of endeavors required of me in a prison called 'University', led me to miss the last of the LOTR trilogy last December, and caused me to have it push with, just half a year later),... What perfect moment for me to realize how beautiful a piece of artwork this is, most esp because it has concluded already the two others left unconcluded in my mind, the missing pieces were filled in and it was beautiful!,
as in! wow! grabe! tinde! astig! sobra!, perfect to close the weekend (& unfortunately, open a week of fresh new horrendous obligations!), it's probably the greatest film, no, trilogy, i have ever seen. Like what was exclaimed by a movie critique at the back of the DVD jacket, (i think
Film Habbit that was), that said that this was certainly the "greatest film of our era"., and i couldn't agree more! super! great effects, talagang no moment'll leave u hanging, bitin pa nga eh, pero super tlga! evrything heroic was impacted on this film, the crowning of Aragorn as King of Gondor, the bowing to the hobbits, heartwarming scene by the way., i love the ghosts summoned by Aragorn, galing!, i loved how Aeowyn fought, brave gal, super dami sad moments., Feeling ko panira lang don ung kissing scene nila Aragorn tsaka ni Arwen!, It's like an unappropriate chapter there, amidst all the chivalrous and victorious atmosphere, parang out of place, ewan ko basta parang feeling ko naging romantic comedy bigla ung aura nung film, bleh, w/c can't be attributed to something as good as LOTR, basta! panira!, haay! pero i swear! ganda ganda tlga! sayang inuwi na ni kuya ung mga DVDs, Waaah! i wanna watch it again!... ok time to stop now, im blah blah blah-ing too much nah!
